Surface preparation is the key for any coating to perform as intended. Although every house is different and surface preparations vary depending on the type surface being coated, the basic steps are the same; replacing damaged or rotted boards, removing loose, peeling coats of old paint until down to sound substrate and thoroughly cleaning surfaces. Optimum performance is dependent on proper surface preparation. Once preparations are complete, the coating can be brushed, rolled or sprayed. Spraying with a high-pressure airless sprayer is the quickest way to apply the product and produces a crisper finish without brush marks, but the coating can also be brushed or rolled without effecting performance. It really doesn't matter how you apply it as long as it is applied over a clean, well prepared surface at the required minimum thickness.
Most of the cost of a paint job is for the labor. The difference in cost between using Liquid Vinyl and regular paint is the cost of the material itself.
